A Chat with the Social Catering Manager: Madeline

Give us a little bit about your background. How did you get started in the wedding business?

My catering and wedding career began in 2013 with a catering company in Manahawkin, NJ. They were exclusive to a few wedding venues in the area. I started off as a banquet server which continued for about two years until I started to transition into the Bridal Attendant role having more direct contact with the clients and day-of coordination. I stayed in that role for about five years until COVID happened. My husband and I decided to move to North Carolina that same year where I was an Administrative Assistant for about a year and then came to Pinehurst in September of 2021 in the same role. During my time beginning at Pinehurst I had the opportunity to shadow the Wedding Manager. Over the course of the next year, I was promoted into that role as the Social Catering Manager – Weddings of Pinehurst Resort.

Ceremony Location at Pinehurst Resort

What is your favorite part of a wedding?

My favorite part of a wedding is watching the happiness and excitement on the couple’s faces right after they have said “I do” and are exiting down the aisle. Their journey as a married couple is just beginning in front of their closest family and friends.

What advice would you give to couples planning their big day?

The advice I would give to couples is to take 15 minutes to themselves after the ceremony or during the reception to soak in the moment and be present with each other. The wedding day goes by so fast but this moment will allow them to reflect on what has already happened while looking forward to what’s to come.

We could not agree more! The wedding day goes by so fast.
Pro Tip: When you are working on the wedding day timeline, we carve a little alone time for just your and your new spouse! If you've hired a wedding planner (we suggest you do!) then make sure they have included this moment in the timeline. You won't regret it!
