Every couple wants a great photographer to capture their special wedding day moments! But sometimes couples aren't sure where to start their search. Today, we are spotlighting a local photographer with both the experience and the eye for capturing some of the most beautiful wedding day stories!
A Chat with Jennifer B.
Give us a little bit about your background. How did you get into the photography industry?
I'm a wedding and portrait photographer, wife, mom of 2 fabulous girls and 5 fur babies, and food enthusiast! I've always loved photography but my journey started out in the Army...as a dietitian! I have my masters in nutrition (I love food).
My husband bought me my first Canon DSLR camera 15 years ago when I was pregnant with our first girl and challenged me to take it out of auto-mode. Then he signed us up to shoot our first wedding in Puerto Rico for two of his Air Force friends and I loved every minute of it…We settled down in the wonderful Southern Pines community over 12 years ago and started my business. I never imagined I would build such a fun business that allows me the opportunity to photograph and meet such wonderful people.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
That’s a tough question. I love showing up early and hugging the bride and grabbing all the details (it helps calm me and prepare me for a fun-filled day. BUT…I would have to say couples portraits is my favorite. I grab the couple and steal them from the crowd. They enjoy moments together and I get to capture it.
What is your photography style?
My style is bright and vibrant. I love to guide my clients to the best light and work with them to get the most flattering and natural images. I am a joyful person so my images exude the joy of the day. Three words that describe my style…Romantic, Classic, and Radiant.
What advice do you have for a couple planning their wedding day?
1. When planning your wedding, have a weekly date night (this could be a simple as lighting a candle and sharing your favorite beverage…and make it a point to NOT talk wedding talk. Enjoy time together and don’t let the planning be all you talk about.
2. Make the day what you and your future spouse wants. There will be a lot of opinions from others…but it is your day!
3. Consider a first look! I love first looks. I wish I knew about this. I remember seeing Lewis as I walked down the aisle. We so wanted to talk to each other but we couldn’t until after the ceremony…and by then it was time for family pictures…so we didn’t get a private moment together until an hour after we first saw each other…not to mention the other benefits (more picture time…lol!).
