Let's face it, many couples today don't see the need for a wedding registry. Maybe you already own a home filled with everything you need. Maybe you and your new spouse are moving or traveling after the wedding and don't have the space to store a bunch of gifts. Whatever the reason, you may want to consider these 3 alternatives before you ditch the registry completely!
After all, your guests may want to get you something!
1. Donations to a Favorite Organization
If you are using a website like The Knot or WeddingWire, then connecting a donation link to your registry is a breeze. Not sure what to say to your guests? Use our example and make it your own!
"There is nothing more we could ask for besides your presence at our wedding! The fact that so many loved ones are traveling across states to share our special day is a gift in itself!! In lieu of gifts, we have shared our two favorite charities."
2. Cash & Gift Cards
I know many couples might feel odd about asking for cash and gift cards rather than gifts, but there's no need to stress about it! Your guests are most likely already thinking about what they would like to bless you with! It comes with the "We're getting married!" territory. We most likely all have someone in our lives who just enjoys the act of gift-giving. Although, I understand that for some couples, physical gifts are not ideal. You may be moving soon. You may already have everything you need. Think about something you do need or would like to do as newlyweds and turn it into a fund. Moving soon? Create a New Home Fund. Going on Vacation? Newlywed Fund.
3. Honeymoon Registry
Similar to number 2, this registry is all about the honeymoon! It is also one of our favorite "funds" that couples can set up for their wedding because it is a way for your guests to bless you with experiences you get to have as newlyweds! Let's face it, many couples are putting off the honeymoon because they have to save up the money. I get that!
My husband and I saved for months to pay for our wedding. Creating a Honeymoon Fund on our registry meant we could enjoy many of the experiences we would have originally put aside for "Next time," and we all know that next time doesn't always come. Thanks to our generous guests, we got to have those experiences the FIRST time.
Pro Tip: Keep a list of who purchased which experiences and send them a picture of you and your new spouse enjoying their gift on your honeymoon!
Just a Few Online Honeymoon Registries
Whatever you choose, remember that it is a day to celebrate the love between you and your partner! Don't stress over the tradition things! Tradition is nice, but you should create a registry that reflects the dreams for your future!
